Having begun a Bachelor of Fine Arts at COFA in Sydney, Kate started out wanting to be a sculptor, but was instantly captivated with the proximity, techniques and tools of jewellery making. That was in the year of 1992, and since then, she has never regretted following her cohort of friends who wanted to major in jewellery making.
She further enhanced her techniques in one of the jewellery capitals the UK, and completed a City and Guilds Diamond Mounting and Diamond Setting courses at the University of Birmingham.
After honing her skills and style, it was time to take the leap of faith and set out working for herself. Kate’s jewellery, which is hand made in her Sydney studio, is an exploration of classic architecture and medieval design combining with nature and organic aesthetics. She hopes that by creating jewellery which is unique and timeless, it transcends stylistic trends.
Her jewellery is highly personal and customised rings and necklaces with precious gems are synonymous with Kate Sandford signature style.
True to her core values, she prides herself on impeccable quality and craftsmanship. Her jewellery is designed for jewellery lovers looking for something that goes beyond simply wearing art.
